The Truth About the “Highest-Paying” Surrogacy Agencies

Becoming a surrogate is an experience like no other! You get to experience the joys of pregnancy and at the same time help grow or complete someone else’s family. The moment you see the parents hold their baby for the first time is impossible to top!

While that feeling is amazing, it’s impossible to ignore that the compensation you receive for being a gestational carrier is an important part of the equation.

Every gestational carrier should receive the base compensation she wants and deserves for the amazing service she is providing to her intended parents. That’s why Bright Futures Families allows gestational carriers to choose their own base compensation amount! Beyond the base compensation, we will always advocate on your behalf as a surrogate to receive the compensation and benefits you deserve.

In doing your research (something you are obviously doing right now!), you’ve likely come across some incredibly high compensation rates. Is it really true that surrogacy agencies provide the six-digit compensation amounts they promise? And, if they do, why would anyone bother working with a surrogacy agency that cannot promise the “highest” compensation for your amazing and selfless act?

This is a frequently asked question, and because Bright Futures Families is dedicated to transparency, honesty and education, we’ve addressed them below. You can also always reach out to us in order to learn more about our surrogate compensation package — and why surrogacy agencies that pay “the most” may not be quite what they seem.

The Truth Behind a “Highest-Paying” Advertisements

You know that surrogates are in high demand — and for good reason. Surrogates help a family grow or become complete and that is something to be rewarded.

While we know most surrogates are not solely motivated by compensation, we absolutely understand that it’s likely an important part of the decision. When you see ads claiming you can make up to $85,000 (or far more!) as a gestational carrier, you may be tempted to work with those highest-paying surrogacy programs.

But this “highest” surrogate compensation isn’t telling the whole story. Many national surrogacy agencies will advertise numbers that don’t quite paint an accurate picture when it comes to money that will end up in your pocket during a surrogacy journey.

MISLEADING CALCULATIONS

Many surrogates are lured in with advertisements promising the “highest” surrogate compensation. But it’s important to understand the entire picture before signing on with an agency promising larger than normal amounts of money.

Surrogacy agencies that pay “the most” often include medical expenses and other reimbursements in their overall figures. This isn’t money for you to spend how you want; this is money you receive during the process to pay for your surrogacy- and pregnancy-related costs that have already been incurred. So, that “highest” compensation you see isn’t money in your pocket — it’s money you are being reimbursed for expenses you already have incurred (or will very soon!).

When you run the true numbers, and compare the big number programs with ours, you’ll often find that the actual compensation is much more comparable to what we offer here at Bright Futures Families. There is a very good chance that our actual compensation is actually higher, too!

LONG-DISTANCE SURROGACIES

Many national surrogacy agencies cater to intended parents in other countries. They are able to pay more than most US based parents — but it means you’ll have to complete a long-distance surrogacy with intended parents you may only meet a few times or may have a language barrier to communication with.

Many of the surrogates we work with are interested in personal, genuine relationships with their intended parents. When you’re just a number to a large, national agency, you lose that experience. Bright Futures Families only works with domestic based intended parents so you get to know who you are carrying for.

Some surrogates decide this trade-off is worth it to receive higher surrogate compensation. It’s a decision you’ll need to make for yourself. What is more important to you: money or the surrogacy experience that you’ve dreamt of?

Why Bright Futures Families

At Bright Futures Families, you can rest assured that our compensation rate is just that — money that goes to you, to do with as you would like. Your medical and surrogacy expenses, such as lost wages, will be paid for separately from your compensation.

Our program only works with intended parents located within the United States. That means that any Intended Parents that you choose to match with and carry for will be easy to communicate with and can reach your location relatively easily without the hassle of international flights. Our intended parents are truly interested in getting to know you and establishing a relationship through this journey. Many even maintain lifelong friendships!

You’ll also receive personalized care and support from our team. We’re not a giant national surrogacy program, so you aren’t just a number to us. Our team members want to get to know you and help you have the amazing surrogacy that you want, one based on your needs and desires.

While Bright Futures Families may not be the “highest paying” surrogacy agency you consider, we can provide a local, personalized experience that larger agencies cannot. That’s why so many women choose to work with us to make their surrogacy dreams come true.

We know you probably have many questions about how to become a surrogate with our program. We’re always happy to answer them. To learn more about our surrogate compensation package, give us a call anytime at 303-353-0964 of fill out our intake form today!

We were so excited to hear from a fertility clinic in New England that the RE is referring family members because of the way we handled other intended parents with their clinic!

While we are keeping this anonymous we always appreciate the referrals and kind words.
